Jobs funding

PORTLAND – TD Banknorth, through the TD Banknorth Charitable Foundation, has awarded $5,000 to Jobs for Maine’s Graduates in support of the organization’s Student Enrichment Learning Program.

JMG is a private nonprofit organization that partners with schools to offer experiential-based learning programs, providing the motivation, skills and pathways students need to graduate, continue their education and pursue meaningful careers. It serves approximately 2,500 students at more than 50 middle and high schools throughout Maine.

An integral component of the curriculum is off-campus student enrichment offerings. They include regional and statewide events involving team-affiliated activities that promote leadership, communication, decision-making and civic responsibility.

Adoption meeting

PORTLAND – MAPS will hold an adoption informational session at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10, at MAPS International, 277 Congress St. Those interested can preregister by calling 775-4101. The focus will be on domestic and international programs. See www.mapsadopt.org for more information.

Council to meet

AUGUSTA – The Time and Tide Resource Conservation and Development Area Council will convene at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3, in the third-floor conference room, 9 Green St.

Time and Tide is a nonprofit organization that provides guidance and leadership for projects that foster improvement, development and conservation of natural resources while promoting economic growth opportunities in local communities. Corvette drawing

TOPSHAM – This year’s drawing for the annual American Cancer Society Corvette Raffle will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, at Strong Chevrolet in Damariscotta and it is not too late to buy a ticket.

Those interested can call the American Cancer Society at 800-464-3102, press 3, to buy a ticket and a chance to win a new Victory Red 2005 Corvette, valued at more than $51,000. A total of 1,500 tickets will be sold for $100 apiece. Second prize is $1,000 cash and third prize is $500 cash.

Winners are responsible for all applicable licensing and delivery fees and local, state and federal taxes. No substitution of the offered prizes may be made. No one under 16 may participate.
