Book sale
RANGELEY – The Rangeley Library book and bake sale will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 4, at the library. There will be a variety of baked goodies and other things to eat and drink. The sale will include paperbacks and hard covers in a variety of subjects. The money from the sale supports the projects that the library does all year long.
Quartet to sing
WILTON – The East Wind Gospel Quartet will perform in concert starting at 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7, at the East Wilton Union Church.
A Maine-based southern gospel quartet, they have performed in concerts throughout New England and Canada. They have released eight cassettes and four CDs and in the fall of each year hold a music celebration in the Auburn area.
The concert is the first of four Concerts on the Lawn being held in August at East Wilton Union Church. Refreshments will follow the concert and a free-will offering will be taken. The concert will be held indoors if weather is unfavorable. For more information, call 645-9494.
Sunday music
LIVERMORE – There will be music at the Meeting House at 9:10 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 7. The North Livermore Baptist Church will feature vocalists Michael and Anita Linkenbach.
Worthley reunion
WELD – The annual reunion of the Worthley Family Phillips branch will be held at Mount Blue State Park Webb Beach from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 14.
Scheduled events include a potluck dinner (bring a favorite dish – hot dogs and sodas will be provided), a business meeting and the election of officers for the next two years.
President Geneva Worthley will preside over this year’s events. There will be games, a Scottish auction and music.
Bible school
STARKS – Vacation Bible School, “Kingdom of the Son,” will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday, Aug. 8 to 12, at the Camp at the Eastward, Sawyer’s Mills Road, formerly called West Mills Road. The school is for ages 5 to 12. Lunch will be served to all interested children and families. Transportation, by arrangement, is available in the local area.
The Starks/West Mills Community Church, along with the annual Clinton work group, will sponsor the school. For more information, call 696-5496.
Dance/concert
RANGELEY – A contra dance/concert and silent auction will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 8, at the Wilhelm Reich Museum’s Conference Center, Dodge Pond Road.
The evening will feature the Schraders and Friends, as Leah Schrader is raising money for art supplies, traveling and training expenses for an upcoming trip to Burma in the winter.
Schrader and other students at Bard College are involved in Children’s Expressive Arts Project, a program designed to help abused and emotionally disabled children. Bard students will bring expressive arts to street children in shelters in Burma.
The public is invited to the evening of music and dancing and to support the project. Admission is $6 for adults and $3 for children. There are also family deals. For more information, call 864-3907 or e-mail [email protected].
Club to meet

Auction set
MOUNT VERNON – Mount Vernon Community Center will hold an auction at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, at Lakeside in the Village, rain or shine. Household goods, furniture, sporting goods and gift certificates for local businesses will go on the auction block. Lunch will be sold by the Beach Committee.

Vacation school
FARMINGTON – “Discovering God’s Love – Jungle Adventure” will be the theme of Vacation Bible School to be held from 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday, Aug. 8 to 12, at the New Hope Baptist Church, 268 Perham St.
There will be puppets, Bible stories, memory verses, snow cones, a contest with prizes, crafts and games for children age 3 through grade six.
The theme of the lessons is “God’s Love – Showing it, Sharing it, Trusting it, Believing it, and Being Sure of It.”
