LEWISTON – Ten employees of United Ambulance Service have recently completed Maine paramedic programs.
Matt Lamontange and Stephanie Rouleau earned their associate degree in paramedicine from Southern Maine Community College in South Portland.
Allison Burnham, Dianne Irving, Kirk Andert, Eric Michaud, Jay Morrisette, Nate Robbins, Eric Saunders and Bill Young obtained their certificates in paramedicine from Tri-County EMS in Lewiston.
These new paramedics will be completing a 160-hour orientation during which they work with a preceptor. After the orientation, they must complete a skills test to ensure they can perform critical procedures independently. Though this orientation isn’t required in the state, United has been mandating it for many years, according to a spokesman.
