Navy Airman Recruit Josef P. Arnoldy, son of Kathy L. and Paul J. Arnoldy of Auburn, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

During the eight-week program, Arnoldy completed a variety of training, which included classroom study and practical instruction on naval customs, first aid, firefighting, water safety and survival and shipboard and aircraft safety as well as physical fitness.

Arnoldy is a 2004 graduate of Edward Little High School of Auburn.

James D. Flanders, son of Patricia A. Woodward of Groton, Mass. and Darrell M. Flanders of New Gloucester, recently enlisted in the Navy under the Delayed Entry Program at Navy Recruiting District New England, Boston, Mass.

Flanders will report for active duty to undergo basic training at the Navy’s Recruit Training Center, Great Lakes, Ill. Flanders is a 2004 graduate of Groton-Dunstable Regional High School of Groton, Mass.
