AUBURN – Lillian Barrows, 92, of Canton, died Aug. 21, at the Odd Fellows Home in Auburn, where she had resided for the last several years.

Lillian was the daughter of Benjamin S. and Jennie Draper. She was a welder on Liberty Ships at the South Portland Shipyard during World War II, then worked at Bath Iron Works. She was later employed at Cape Canaveral and was most proud of the fact that she once launched a rocket into space.

Lillian was a member of the Canton Point Ladies Circle, a member of the Rebekahs and a member of the White Shrine.

Survivors include a son, Richard McCollister of Canton; two daughters, Marion Gregory and Frances Duncan of Elizabeth City, N.C.; a sister, Hazel Russell of Hartford; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Rodney Maynard McCollister of Canton; her second husband, Richard Barrows of Bartlett, N.H.; one son, Rodney Maynard McCollister Jr.; four sisters, Lena Poor Groleau, Elinor Drake, Bessie Stevens, and Vera Gurney; and one brother, Benjamin Draper.
