AUBURN – The Red Eddies held the ball in the offensive zone for most of the game, grinding down Cony in a 5-0 win over the Rams in a KVAC girls’ soccer game on Friday.

Katelyn St. Hilaire, Elizabeth Esponette, Muriel Schwinn, Ashley Gaylord, and Kelsey Pettengill all scored for Edward Little (3-0) on plays set up by Olivia Welch on corner kicks.

Brittney French had a quiet night in the Eddies net, recording the shutout without facing a shot.

Mt. View 2, Oak Hill 1

WALES – Carrie Couture pounced on a rolling ball near the goal line and tapped home the game-winner 3:45 into the second extra session, capping an aggressive back-and-forth game as Mt. View tipped Oak Hill, 2-1, in girls’ soccer action on Friday.

The two teams matched each other shot for shot until the end, with the Mustangs (1-2) edging Oak Hill 19-18 in shots on the decisive goal.

Becca Roberts forced overtime for the Raiders (0-3), scoring on an indirect from just outside the 18 in the second half, assisted by Shannon Safford.

Dirigo 1, Hall-Dale 0

FARMINGDALE – Katie Hutchinson scored the lone goal of the game midway through the first half as Dirigo slipped past Hall-Dale 1-0 in MVC girls’ soccer play on Friday

The Cougars controlled the tempo early and withstood a surge of Bulldog scoring chances in the second to seal the win.

Christine Chow stopped all five shots she faced for the shutout.

Wiscasset 3, Mountain Valley 2

WISCASSET – Sarah Pierce carried the day for the Redskins as Wiscasset nipped Mountain Valley 3-2 in MVC girls’ soccer action on Friday.

Kristen Blais drew first blood with a goal for the Falcons (1-1). In turn, Pierce tied the game before Blais closed the half with another for a 2-1 lead.

Pierce found the back of the net twice in the second half, including the game-winner, with just under 10 minutes to play.

Goalie Karri McPherson had a work out in net, making 29 saves for Wiscasset, while Megan Foye stopped 11 for Mountain Valley.

Field hockey

Livermore Falls 4, Mountain Valley 1

LIVERMORE FALLS – Taryn Flagg scored a pair of goals and added an assist as Livermore Falls upended Mountain Valley 4-1 in MVC field hockey play on Friday.

Erica Gapf and Becca Leclerc also scored for the Andies, and the defense of Danica Kelley and Bailey Grant helped hold the Falcons to only three shots on goal.

Sam Whiting had three saves for the win.

Bethany Tidswell notched the lone goal for Mountain Valley. Kim Clark stopped 23 shots in the Falcon cage.

Lisbon 2, Winthrop 1

LISBON FALLS – Freshman Kelly Bourgoin tipped in a pass from Erica Merritt on an offensive break four minutes into overtime as Lisbon edged Winthrop, 2-1, in field hockey action on Friday.

Merritt intercepted a pass after Winthrop controlled the ball early in overtime with several penalty corners and dribbled up the left side to set up the winning strike. Bourgoin now has four goals on the young season.

Kayla Kimball forced overtime with an unassisted goal with three minutes to play in regulation. Erica Sargent made sevens saves for the Ramblers (2-1).

Merritt also scored the first goal of the game for the undefeated Greyhounds (3-0). Rachel Beal made eight saves.

Lake Region 8, Poland 0

POLAND – Kayla Nowell notched a hat trick as Lake Region sailed to an 8-0 shutout over Poland in WMC field hockey action on Friday.

The Lakers expanded on a 2-0 lead at the half with six unanswered goals in the second frame.

Dezaray DeBurra made 12 saves in goal for the Knights (0-3).
