LEWISTON – A Webster Street man has been arrested for the third time in five months on charges stemming from alleged sexual abuse and exploitation of children.

This time, police say 53-year-old Raymond Samson was prowling a campground in Madison where he made contact with kids.

Samson was arrested on Friday by police in Madison. Already facing 20 felony counts for similar acts, he had been forbidden to have contact with kids under the age of 18.

Police who arrested Samson in Madison said he had gone in his recreational vehicle to a campground where he was involved with a 17-year-old boy.

Investigators from Lewiston said Samson was also found with photographs of children at the campground. The photos were seized as evidence and the camper was impounded by police.

Samson was first taken to the Somerset County Jail in Skowhegan. This week, he was moved to the Androscoggin County Jail in Auburn to answer charges that he again had violated bail.

It is the third time since April that the 299 Webster St. man has landed behind bars. When he was arrested Friday, Samson had been free on $10,000 cash bail.

He is accused of forcing minors to perform sexual acts and taking photographs of them in sexual positions. The charges involve six different victims, stemming from incidents that took place over the past three years.

Samson was arrested in April after a tip led police to his house on Webster Street. While there, investigators seized three computers, several videotapes and printed photographs as evidence. According to court documents, two of the alleged victims were younger than 14.

In June, Samson was arrested again, accused of attempting to falsify evidence by burying lewd photos of children in his backyard. Those photos have since been uncovered by police in Lewiston.

Since April, Samson has been charged with four counts of gross sexual assault, three counts of unlawful sexual contact, six counts of sexual exploitation and one count each of sexual abuse of a minor, visual sexual aggression and unlawful sexual touching.

He also was indicted on two counts of possession of sexually explicit material. Police say they seized a child pornography video from his apartment called “DiaperBoyz.”

In Lewiston, detectives Bob Morin and Scott Bradeen have been investigating Samson’s involvement with children. Since the most recent incident, owners of campgrounds across the area have been alerted to the situation, police said.

Samson was expected to appear in court this week at answer the charge that he violated bail. He is scheduled for another court hearing Nov. 10.
