FARMINGTON – Alyssa St. Pierre scored three times in the first half to lead Mt. Blue to a 5-0 victory over Lewiston in a KVAC field hockey matchup on Thursday.
Alyson Webster started the scoring for the Cougars at the 13:28 mark on a pass from Michelle Oswald. Oswald scored later in the first half and finished with a goal and two assists for Mt. Blue (3-2). Ashley Lewia only needed three saves to earn the shutout.
Cony 3, Oxford Hills 2
AUGUSTA- Monica White capitalized on a miscomunication from the Oxford Hills defense to score the game-winning goal, lifting Cony to a 3-2 win Thursday afternoon.
White and Nikki Neff each scored in the first half of the contest for the Rams (5-0) win. Cony held the advantage in shots on goal, 16-5, and on corners at 10 to the Vikings (2-3) zero.
The Oxford Hills effort was paced by Teria Durgin with two goals, and one assist going to Tia Pratt.
Cape Elizabeth 2, Poland 0
POLAND – Hannah Landis found the back of the net at the 10:29 mark in the first half to power Cape Elizabteh to a 2-0 victory over Poland.
Katie Mowles stoppped all 13 shots she faced to pick up the shutout for Cape Elizabeth (4-1).
Poland had a two man advantage for the last ten minutes of the game and failed to convert. The Knights (0-5) missed two penalty kicks in the second half.
Soccer
Skowhegan 1, Mt. Blue 1
FARMINGTON – Mt. Blue and Skowhegan played through two overtimes and still couldn’t decide a winner as they finished knotted up at 1.
Skowhegan drew first blood when Nicole Paradis found the back of the net on a loose ball scramble with 31 minutes remaining in the second half. Then with 2:24 left in the game Mt. Blue’s Ava Amador scored on a feed from Stephanie Smith for the game-tieing goal.
Brittany Gould made 17 saves in net for the Indians (1-3-1). Goaltender Kaitlin Scott had nine stops for the Cougars (2-2-1).
Monmouth 4, Carrabec 2
MONMOUTH – Jen Lola netted a pair of goals to lift Monmouth to a 4-2 win over Carrabec in girls’ soccer action Thursday.
Lola scored on a loose ball early in the first half, before Lindsey Fisher added her first career goal. Katie Woodman capped off the scoring for the Mustangs (2-1-2).
Erica French scored two breakaway goals late in the second half for the Carrabec (0-5) effort.
Dirigo 3, Lisbon 0
DIXFIELD – Erica St. Pierre scored the first goal with 37:10 left in the first half on a pass from Katherine Gagne as Dirigo defeated Lisbon 3-0 in a varsity girls’ soccer matchup.
Gagne finished with a goal and an assist for Dirigo (3-1-1) and Melissa Harvey also scored on a penalty kick in the second half. Dirigo goalkeeper Christina Chow made 11 saves in net for the shutout.
Mt. Abram 4, Madison 0
SALEM – Morgan Cummings and Rebecca London each netted a pair of goals as Mt. Abram posted a 4-0 win over Madison Thursday afternoon.
All four goals scored by Cummings and London were tallied in the second half of the contest. Emma Coffin and Ella Fast were each credited with an assist for the Mt. Abram (4-0-1) win. Ashley Marandola made 17 saves in net for the Madison (1-4) effort.
Edward Little 1, Oxford Hills 0
SOUTH PARIS – Kelsey Pettengill converted a pass from Beth Esponette to notch the lone goal of the game and give Edward Little the edge they needed over Oxford Hills 1-0 Thursday.
Pettengill picked up the ball and shot it towards Sam Rivers, the Oxford Hills (0-4-1) keeper, who got a piece of the ball but couldn’t stop it from rolling in. Alice Read was solid at the left halfback position for the Eddies (4-1) win.
Oxford Hills’ Meredith Vieira played a strong offensive game for the losing cause.
Winthrop 4, Mountain Valley 0
WINTHROP -Jamie Pacheco notched a goal off a corner kick and an assist, leading three other players in scoring, as Winthrop defeated Mountain Valley 4-0.
Melissa Nguyen, Emilie Knight, and Katherine Fortin each tallied a goal for the Ramblers (2-2-1). Jen Douglas and Kayley Ball each had an assist.
Katie Pushard was solid in net turning away eight shot for the shutout.
