PARIS – The final weekend of the fall chicken shoots will be held by the Norway-Paris Fish and Game on Sunday, Sept. 25, at the shooting range on the Buckfield Road, South Paris.

The shoots consist of many rounds of trap shooting using clay targets. The club has been using its pat-trap clay target machine that provides for a smooth running competition and increases safety at the range.

There are also many “running deer” competitions in which rifles and black powder guns are used to fire at a moving, life-sized deer target. Beginners and experts are welcome to attend. Trophies and prizes will be awarded at the end of each day of shooting.

Weekly trap shooting will continue to take place after the final weekend of the fall shoots. Weekly trap shooting begins at 2 p.m. Wednesdays and 8 a.m. Sundays.

Proceeds from the three fall shoots go to a fund to send area kids to the Maine Conservation School each year. The first rounds of shooting will begin at 10 a.m. and the final round will end at 3 p.m. There will be a concession stand selling hamburgers, hot dogs, sodas and snacks.
