LEWISTON – Richard L. Chandonnet, 78, of Golder Road, died at his home on Sept. 21, after a short illness.

Born in Lewiston on Sept. 11, 1927, the son of Ernest and Leda (Cloutier) Chandonnet, he was a graduate of Lewiston High School.

He entered the U.S. Army in 1950, served during the Korean War and was discharged in 1952. On May 1, 1954, he married the former Jeannette Beaule, who survives him of Lewiston.

He was employed for many years for Bourque’s Markets as a meat cutter. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Church, and was an avid sports fan including both the Boston Red Sox and the New York Giants. He loved cooking, traveling and especially his family and grandchildren.

Besides his wife, he leaves three sons, John of Sanford, David of Norway, and Mark and his wife, Heidi Chandonnet, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two daughters, Renee Chandonnet and her husband, Nicholas Leonardos, of Cambridge, Mass., and Celeste Chandonnet and her husband, Anthony Landry, of Milford, Mass.; and four grandchildren, Timothy, Julia, Madeline and Michael.

He was predeceased by three brothers, Ernest, Marcel and Gerard Chandonnet; and one sister, Yvette Levesque.
