DOVER, Del. – Ryan Moore set himself up to continue his late-season challenge for the NASCAR Grand National Division, Busch North Series title by winning the Busch Pole for Friday’s MBNA Race Points 150 at Dover International Speedway at record speed.
Not only was Moore’s 149.800 mph lap a track record, breaking the mark set by Paul Wolfe in 2002, it was the fastest qualifying speed in series history, and his third Busch Pole of the season.
Eddie MacDonald will share the front row with Moore at 149.365 mph.
Ryan Seaman and Matt Kobyluck make up the second row and Sunoco Rookie leader Sean Caisse and Tim Andrews are on Row 3 in the 30-car field.
Point leader Andy Santerre qualified 14th and runner-up Mike Stefanik will start 17th. Santerre, seeking his fourth straight title, leads Stefanik by 33 points and Moore by 58 with three races remaining. Defending race winner Dale Quarterley qualified 11th and Ted Christopher, winner last week at Loudon, N.H., starts 16th.
