The big game hunting season in Maine begins Oct. 1st but as that day falls on Sunday, probably no great amount of hunting will be done until the following Monday.

Commissioner Carleton thinks that there will be plenty of deer for all hands and a very fair chance for the moose hunters. There have been no important changes in the laws since last season. Caribou are still protected in all seasons of the year. The number of sportsmen coming from other States will probably be about the same as in 1903, the first year of the license law, when 1697 licenses were sold.

The plant on Minot Avenue in Auburn is like many other factories in the Lewiston-Auburn area. Workers punch in, take breaks in the plant’s coffee shop between shifts of drilling, gluing or sawing and punch out at the end of the day.

But this factory has no stairs to climb and no narrow doorways, and telephones are installed low to the ground.

The building is totally barrier-free because all of the workers are handicapped in some way. Pathways Inc. has been vocationally training the handicapped for several years now – placing some in jobs in the community and retaining some within the Pathways plant in Auburn.
