AMHERST, Mass. – Linebacker Dave Donahue returned an interception 65 yards for a touchdown and recovered two fumbles, as Bowdoin held off Amherst 16-13 on Saturday.
Amherst (1-1, 1-1 NESCAC) outgained Bowdoin 399 to 139, but turned the ball over seven times.
Donahue’s interception return in the first quarter and Jared Prichard’s 2-yard touchdown catch in the second quarter gave Bowdoin (2-0, 2-0) a 13-0 halftime lead. A 42-yard field goal by Nolan McNair early in the third made it 16-0.
