FARMINGTON – The Franklin County Animal Shelter introduces a happy hound who goes by the name of Ranger.

Ranger was found abandoned; he was left tied to a bridge in Strong with nothing but a note attached to his collar with his name on it. When he was brought to the shelter, he was dirty, thin, nervous and shy.

However, after many weeks of care, Ranger has blossomed. Ranger’s joyful personality makes it hard to understand how someone could leave him. Ranger loves nothing more than to be near the ones he loves, and always lets them know how happy he is to see them by doing a little dance that consists of lots of wiggling and tiny little hops.

Because Ranger is a hound, he is overlooked by adopters, making him the current longest resident of the dog room, having been there since July 25. Having overcome so much already, Ranger remains optimistic that the right family is out there, wanting a dog like him just as badly as he wants a family to call his own.

New dogs at the shelter include a male husky/shepherd mix brought in from Farmington with collar; a female American Staffordshire terrier mix brought in from Jay with collar; and a male terrier mix brought in from Farmington with collar.
