LEWISTON – Earl F. Bailey Jr., 79, of Campus Ave., died Thursday, Oct. 6, at d’Youville Pavilion in Lewiston.

He was born Sept. 12, 1926, in Casco, the son of Earl F. Sr. and Helen (Worthley) Bailey.

Earl served his country proudly from 1943 to 1950.

He was married for 50 years to his beloved wife, Joyce A. (Goodwin) Bailey, whom he married in 1952.

Earl was a 20-year member of the American Legion, and a 22-year member of the Eagles in Lewiston.

He loved to go for rides in the middle of the night for doughnuts and coffee with his beloved dog, Cuddles.

He drove tractor trailers for more than 30 years, and for many years drove for Sun Cab.

He is survived by his children, daughters, Gladys Bailey Richards and her husband, Donald, of Litchfield, Joanne Bailey Dupuis and her husband, Levite, of Auburn, Katherine Bailey George of Lewiston, Sandra Greaton of Auburn, Barbara Wenzell of Westbrook and Judy Perkins of Auburn; sons, Stephen Grande and wife, Barbara, of California, James Brunelle and his wife, Judy, of Massachusetts, Richard Bailey and his wife, Toni, of Buckfield, and Warren Smith and his wife, Bonnie, of Greene; brothers, Charlie of Mechanic Falls, Richard of Texas and Paul of Bancroff; sisters, Doris Whitaker and Hazel Moore, both of Lewiston; 20 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; his beloved wife in 2003; sons, Earl III “Butch” in 1990, and Danny in 1951; stepdaughter, Bonnie Goodwin in 1984; step-grandson, Craig, in 1984; and his sister, Patricia, in 2003.
