WESTBROOK – The Maine USATF Fall Cross Country Program is scheduled to start Sunday, Oct. 16 at Smiling Hill Farm in Westbrook. It’s the first of 4 preliminary meets to be held at various locations around the state.

The age divisions are 8-under, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-16, 17-18, 19-29, 30-over at 5-year intervals. Age groups are determined by subtracting birth year from 2005.

Entry fee is $3 and USATF registration ($12 youth, $15 adult) is required and available at the meets. Registration begins at 12:15 p.m. Course walks start at 1:00, with the first race slated for 2:00. Ribbons will be awarded to the top 6 in each age division. Participant ribbons will be given to all others.

Other preliminary meets are scheduled Sundays, as follows: Oct. 23, University of Maine-Augusta; Oct. 30, Smiling Hill Farm, Westbrook; Nov. 6, University of Maine-Augusta.

State Championship Meet is set for Sunday, Nov. 13 at the University of Maine at Augusta. The top 20 in each age group and the top 3 clubs will advance to the Region 1 Championship scheduled for Nov. 20 at Bryant College in Smithfield, R.I. National Championship is also set for Bryant College on Dec. 10.
