How can one profess Christianity when he or she is willing to overturn the gay-rights law?
Members of the Maine Grassroots Coalition appear to be working very hard to keep discrimination alive. I wonder what these individuals would do if they found out a loved one were gay? If they look around themselves, they might be surprised.
Anyone wanting to overturn the new law needs to be a little more educated and open-minded about our loved ones. Being homosexual is not a choice. Why would anyone choose to live a life of fear of discrimination? These are diverse, well-educated, hardworking and compassionate men and women, who want to lead happy and normal lives just like the rest of us.
I consider myself a good Catholic and Christian, which means there is no room in my life for discrimination of any kind. Hail to Rev. Michael Seavey, who recently expressed his support of this law.
Knowing that ignorance and discrimination still exist in this community, I am happy that my loved one is living out of state where he can lead a better and safer life, and I can sleep better at night.
