WEST PARIS – William H. Hoyt, 80, of Norway died early Monday morning at Ledgeview Living Center.

He was born in Kingfield, May 12, 1925, the son of Harden and Velma Benson Hoyt. He attended school in Poland and faithfully served his country in the Army during World War II, and was a recipient of the Purple Heart.

He was an oil burner service man for Whitman Oil until it closed, and then for the Ripley and Fletcher Co. until his retirement.

He enjoyed gardening, playing cards, and Saturday night dances. He was a real people person. His famliy was very important to him.

On July 18, 1947, he married Winnifred Marston. She died Feb. 4, 2003.

Survivors include four sons, Gregory, and his wife, Lillian, of Norway, Timothy, and his fiance, Anne Walker, of Poland, Jeffry and his wife, Dodi, of Norway, and Kenneth “Kackel,” and his wife, Terry, of Oxford; three daughters, Patricia McLaughlin, and her husband, Marty, of Norway, Carol Millett, and her husband, William, of Norway and Sue Little, of South Paris; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
