LEWISTON – Marilyn English Riley, 67, of Lynnfield, Mass., wife of Joseph E. Riley, died Tuesday, Oct. 11, at St. Marguerite d’Youville Pavilion in Lewiston.

Born in Everett, Mass., on Oct. 16, 1937, daughter of the late Richard and Etta English, she spent her last few years living in Maine, close to her daughter and grandchildren. She graduated from Christian High School in Cambridge, Mass., and Lesley College.

She worked as a teacher in California; Wakefield, Mass.; and the Lynnfield school system as her children were growing up. She was very active in all of her children’s activities, from sports to Rainbow Girls.

She was a member of the Lynnfield Congregational Church, Lynnfield Women’s Club and Lynnfield Center Club, and a friend to the Silver Bells. She was also an Eastern Star. She will be truly missed by all who knew her and her personality.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph Riley; her beloved children, Kathi Yergin and her husband, Jerry of Lisbon Falls, and two sons, Richard Riley and his wife, Jeanne, of Lynnfield, Mass., and Stephen Riley and his friend, Michele, of Lynnfield, Mass.; precious grandchildren who brightened her days and kept her going with hard rock music, bingo and the horse races, Brian, Meghan, Sarah and Connor Craig of Lisbon Falls, Ryan and Cameron Riley of Lynnfield, Mass., and Mathew Pini and Spencer Riley of Lynnfield, Mass.; she had the very pleasure of being a step-grandmother to Shannon and Laura Yergin of Lisbon Falls, and a real joy to be a step-grandmother to Mallory Yergin and Kailee Haske, also of Lisbon Falls.
