BOSTON (AP) – Boston Bruins captain Joe Thornton has returned to Boston from the team’s road trip to receive treatments for back spasms, the team announced.

Thornton will be treated by the Bruins’ physical therapist, Scott Waugh.

The Bruins are scheduled to play the Florida Panthers on Thursday night, the Ottawa Senators on Saturday, then end the six-game trip against the Canadiens in Montreal on Tuesday. Thornton was listed as day-to-day with injury.

Thornton missed the final five minutes of the Bruins 4-2 win over the Tampa Bay on Monday because of the spasms.

Thornton hasn’t scored in four games this season, but has four assists.
