LIVERMORE FALLS – The Livermore Falls-Jay Senior Citizens met Oct. 3 at Murray Hall with 41 members present. Chairperson Shirley Couture opened the meeting with a prayer, salute to the flag and a moment of silence for departed members and the men and women in the armed forces.

Mary Groleau led the group as they sang “How Great Thou Art.” Shirley Toncer and Eugene Roy were welcomed back. Guests present were Jeannette Couture, Virginia Huston and Betty Buter.

Shirley Couture reported that a former member, Beatrice Porell, had passed away and the group expressed their sympathy.

There were two other guests present, representatives from Pine Tree Planning, who gave a talk concerning the new prescription drug plan.

Couture reported that SeniorsPlus will hold a Halloween party on Friday, Oct. 28. They will serve a New England boiled dinner with ham, potatoes, carrots and cabbage, dinner roll and a scary dessert. There are also two new trips scheduled: one to Indian Head Resort on Dec. 2 for $54; the other will be the Magic of Christmas with the Portland Symphony on Dec. 10 for $67.

The group will have their monthly meal from Seniors-Plus on Monday, Oct. 24, with a menu of chicken stew, carrot salad, biscuit and fruit cocktail.

The 50-50 was won by Virginia Huston. The meeting was then adjourned and cards were enjoyed.
