PORTLAND (AP) – Tim Brent scored twice and Zenon Konopka netted the game-winner as the Portland Pirates beat the Albany River Rats 4-2 on Sunday.

Simon Ferguson had a goal and an assist for the Pirates.

The teams were tied 2-2 at the end of the first period. After Brent opened the scoring at 3:54, Ryan Murphy answered for the River Rats at 5:30.

Ferguson’s goal put the Pirates ahead at 17:33, but Albany tied it again when Bobby Allen connected on the power play with 1:09 remaining.

Following a scoreless second period, Konopka picked up Ryan Shannon’s rebound and backhanded it past Ari Ahonen at 8:15 of the third. Ahonen made 26 saves. Brent iced the game with an empty-netter at 19:06. Nathan Marsters made 25 saves to win his first AHL start.
