LEWISTON – William Frank Connors, 54, of Litchfield, died Monday, Oct. 17, at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.

“Bill” to his family and “Gator” to many of his friends was born in Rumford on Jan. 27, 1951, the son of Margaret (Benedix) and William “George” Connors. He was a proud graduate of Cony High School, where he was an accomplished baseball player and student. He received an engineering degree from Maine Maritime Academy.

After merchant engineering for a few years, he gave up his job on the sea to settle close to his beloved family and his Augusta roots. He was employed and respected as an engineer at Bath Iron Works until his untimely passing.

He had a love for life and for his wife, Janie, and his son, Eddy, who were the center of his existence. He was well-known in the Augusta area by friends like Jack, who still reminisce about the “good old days.” He was a man rich in those things which matter most – family, good friends and a strong work ethic.

He is survived by a large and loving family as well as many friends who are devastated by his loss. They include his wife of 29 years, Jane; his son, Eddy; sisters, Sandra Albert and her husband, Billy, of California, Md., Barbara Lord and her husband, Bob, of Windham, and Etta Begin and her husband, Doug, of West Gardiner; and brothers, Raymond G. Connors and his wife, Linda, of Augusta, and Thomas J. Connors and his wife, Stephanie, of Augusta. He was blessed with many aunts and uncles, as well as many nieces and nephews with whom he spent countless hours; children had a special place in Bill’s heart and time.

He was predeceased by his parents, George and Margaret.
