LISBON – Residents in the Lisbon community can be screened to reduce their risk of having a stroke. Life Line Screening will be at the Lisbon Town Office, 300 Lisbon St., on Wednesday, Nov. 30. Appointments will begin at 10 a.m.

A stroke is ranked as the third leading killer in the world, and the second among women. Through preventive screenings, the risk of having a stroke can be reduced.

Screenings are fast and painless. They involve the use of ultrasound technology and scan for potential health problems related to blocked arteries, which can lead to a stroke; aortic aneurysms, which can lead to a ruptured aorta; and hardening of the arteries in the legs, which are a predictor of heart disease. Also offered is a bone density screening to assess risk for osteoporosis.

Each screening requires 10 minutes. A complete vascular screening package is $109. Cost the package and osteoporosis screening is $129.

For more information or to schedule an appointment, call 1-877-237-1336. Preregistration is required.
