AVON – The Christmas in Avon Sale is scheduled to be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, at the Avon Community Hall. Donations of used items are being sought for the sale, as well as baked goods and candy. The sale will benefit the Avon fund-raisers. If anyone has a donation to be picked up, they should call Joyce Potter at 639-5811 or Cindy Dixon at 639-4408.

Among the items on sale will be handmade wreaths, wooden wares, Christmas decorations, crocheted and knitted items, potholders, plaques, jams, jellies, pickles, home-baked beans, fudge, breads and baked items. There will also be a 50-50 raffle and a Christmas sampler raffle.

Avon will hold its annual Christmas decorating contest, with prizes of $100 awarded to first place; $50, second; and $25, third. There are no categories and no need to register. The only rule is that the decorated property must be in Avon.

The judges will travel through the town and select the winners on Saturday, Dec. 17. Anyone who would like to insure their home is judged or to alert judges to a possible winner can contact the town office with the location.

Recipes are also being sought from residents to complete an Avon cookbook as a fund-raiser. Contact Potter or Dixon at the numbers above for more information.
