LEWISTON – La Rencontre will meet at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 2, at the Franco-American Heritage Center at St. Mary’s, 46 Cedar St.

The monthly gathering is becoming more and more popular. said Rita Dube, center executive director. “We are averaging 250 to 275 people every month, and they truly have an enjoyable time. The purpose of the gathering is to speak only French for two hours and people are happy to speak their native tongue with pride and enthusiasm,” Dube said.

The meeting will feature a ham dinner. The program will be a one-act play, “One More Thing” (Une autre chose), by Michael Parent. He tells the story of a mill worker, Jean-Paul.

Everyone is invited. The cost is $6.50, and reservations must be made in advance by calling Claudette at 786-6936 or the center at 783-1585.
