Marcel R. Touchette, 55, of Lewiston, passed away Nov. 22 at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.

Born in Lewiston on July 24, 1950, he was the son of Joseph and Alice Bouffard Touchette. Communicant of the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul in Lewiston. He was educated in St. Peter’s School and St. Dominic Regional High School, while continuing his studies at the Sacred Heart Seminary in Pascoag, R.I. He left school due to severe illness.

In spite of this, he worked at area shoe shops, Hillcrest Poultry, as a nurse’s aide at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Hospital, even started his own small grocery store. He resided with his parents and his sister and brother-in-law for many years, and also at Intown Manor and finally at d’Youville Pavilion. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 106.

Marcel had a great love and devotion for his nieces and nephews, Jennifer Gendron, also his godchild, Anne-Marie Gendron, David Gendron, and Dennis Touchette his godchild.

He is survived by one sister, Diane and husband, Mario Gendron, of Greene; aunt and godmother, Julienne Touchette of Lewiston; aunts, Madeline Talbot and Eugene of Canada, and Lucia Lessard of Canada; cousins, Robert Touchette and Lise (Rosaire) Tardif; beloved nieces and nephew, Jennifer, David and Anne-Marie; and several cousins living in Canada.
