FARMINGTON – University of Maine at Farmington sophomore guard Matt St. John has been named the North Atlantic Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending November 27th. St. John scored 17 points in a 54-52 victory over St. Joseph’s in the Beavers’ only action of the week, 11 of those points in the second half as UMF improved to 3-0 on the season.
St. John is averaging a team-high 16.0 points-per-game, eighth in the NAC. He also ranks second in the conference with 11 three-pointers.
Three UMF athletes earn All-New England field hockey honors
FARMINGTON – Forward Kristy Veazie, midfielder Mary Sinclair, and back Mary Berry of the University of Maine at Farmington’s field hockey squad have been named to the All-New England Team by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association. Veazie, the Beavers’ top scorer with 16 goals and 40 points, lead the NAC with 2.35 points per game, and averaged 0.94 goals per game. Sinclair netted eight goals, and Berry directed a defense that allowed only 27 goals in 17 games-just seven in seven games against league opponents.
It is believed to be the first time in school history that three players have been named to the All-New England team in the same year.
