POLAND – Wallace and Mariette Doucette of Poland, formerly of Auburn, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Sept. 3. The celebration was held at the Sedgley Place in Greene. Party hosts were their three sons and their wives.
The couple was married on Sept. 17, 1955, at Holy Cross Church in Lewiston.
Their daughter-in-law, Carol Doucette, made a three-tiered anniversary cake, and floral and balloon bouquets were featured on the tables. The couple was presented photo collages representing their 50 years together.
Over 80 people attended the celebration with out-of-state guests from Florida, Texas, Vermont and Connecticut.
On Sept. 4 the celebration continued when an open house was held at their son’s home in New Gloucester, where many of the guests spent the day sharing memories and stories.
They have three children, Ronald and Carol Doucette, Wallace Jr. and Kathy Doucette, and Michael and Cindy Doucette. They also have six grandchildren, Brad, Melissa, Derek and Dylan Doucette and Kasie and Brad Dulac. They also have three great-grandchildren, Justin, Cody and Elizabeth-Ann.
