VASSALBORO – The wedding of Shelly Elizabeth Dorval and Travis Kenneth Wheeler was held on July 9 at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church in Vassalboro. The Rev. Joseph Cahill officiated at the ceremony.
Mrs. Wheeler is the daughter of Alan and Trudy Dorval of Vassalboro. Mr. Wheeler is the son of Kenneth and Jane Wheeler of Litchfield.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a white gown and carried a bouquet of pink roses and white Calla lilies.
A sister of the bride, Diana Dorval, was maid of honor, and bridesmaids were Jodi Bither and Julie Morse, sisters of the bride, Leah Dorval, sister-in-law of the bride, and Kim Wheeler, sister of the bridegroom. Shannon Harty, niece of the bridegroom, was flower girl.
Serving as best man for his friend was Justin Johnson and ushers were Garrett Gustafson, friend of the bridegroom, Patrick Harty, brother-in-law of the bridegroom, and Alan Dorval II and Douglas Dorval, brothers of the bride.
A reception followed at the Augusta Civic Center, after which the couple traveled to Alaska. They are residing in Sabattus.
The bride is a 1997 graduate of Winslow High School, and a 2001 graduate of the University of Maine at Farmington. She is a math teacher at Oak Hill High School in Wales.
The bridegroom is a 1996 graduate of Oak Hill High School, and a 2000 graduate of the University of Maine at Orono. He is project engineer for Mechanical Services, Inc. in Portland.
