Dear Sun Spots: Thank you so very much for printing my letter so quickly. A young man who is passionate about fish and has a good deal of experience met with me Wednesday morning. This is an answer to my prayers, and it’s all due to your help. Many, many thanks and Merry Christmas to you all! – Jeanne Martin, No Town.

Dear Sun Spots: I am an avid sweepstaker who just started an online e-mail group for other sweepstakers in the Lewiston/Auburn area. I call it the Twin City Winners. If any readers of Sun Spots enjoy the wonderful hobby of entering sweepstakes, they can join our little group free of charge at the following Internet address http://groups.yahoo.com/group/twincitywinners/. Thank you, Sun Spots, for a wonderful service you provide. – Larry Paquette, Lewiston.

Dear Sun Spots: I am writing to you in regards to a question I need answered. There is a low-income family that has been having it rough lately, and I am turning to you for help. Their grandsons are little gentlemen who are doing well in school and have been very good through the year. These same kids have never asked for anything in particular for Christmas until this year when they requested a Nintendo Gamecube, an X-Box, a flute and a telescope. Is there some sort of organization or person out there that could provide these items for them? I wouldn’t ask, but these kids deserve it for what they’ve done all year. If anyone has any information please contact me either by e-mail at [email protected] or by phone at 713-2437 Thank you very much! – No Name, No Town.

Answer: In addition to responses from readers, please check in with The Salvation Army this week from Monday to Friday Dec. 5-9 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at The Salvation Army, 67 Park St., Lewiston, which we’ve featured in this column previously to see if they may be able to assist you. You’ll need to bring proof of income and expenses, ID and Social Security number for each person in the household, Medicaid cards, etc., and those with custody of children will need or show proof of custody.

In the meantime, you might also note it’s worthwhile checking out the want ads in your local daily and weekly newspapers, Uncle Henry’s and some of the local Goodwill stores, where you may find some of these items inexpensively, even secondhand and which these children sound like they would likely be happy to receive. You might like to check out the following Web site when seeking used musical instruments, http://maine.craigslist.org/msg/.

Dear Sun Spots: For the person seeking jumbo cupcake liners: I have purchased them at Reed Party Store, Center Street, in the Gipper’s mall in Auburn. – No Name, No Town.

• To readers looking for the “Christmas in Maine” song: Readers have called or written in to note that Goodwill Industries on Center Street in Auburn has several CDs, although not by Malinda Liberty. Those interested may want to contact them about these.
