ANDOVER – Virginia J. Morton, 60, died Monday, Dec. 19, at her home on Upton Road.

She was born in Rumford on Jan. 21, 1945, a daughter of the late John W. and Alice V. (Cole) Jodrey Sr., and attended Andover schools.

She spent her last days with her family, gathered in her home sharing memories about the many snowmobiling trips and camping trips to Baxter State Park, Mollidgewock State Park and many other places. Her support and attendance at her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting and school activities was a priority in her life. Her grandchildren fondly recalled her chocolate chip cookies and Christmas fudge, which everyone looked forward to receiving.

She had been employed as a millworker in the ripsaw department at Andover Wood Products in the Ethan Allen division for more than 30 years, until retirement due to ill health.

She was a very active member of the Pineland Ski Club and the Snow Valley Snowgoers Club. She attended the Andover Congregational Church.

She enjoyed snowmobiling, camping, outdoor activities, the Red Sox, the New England Patriots, NASCAR racing, especially Rusty Wallace, and attending her grandchildren’s sporting events.

She loved working in the garden and on the winter woodpile. She took great pride and enjoyment in making quilts and pillows for her children and grandchildren. She was especially proud of her research and compilation of a book detailing the Morton and Jodrey family history.

She was married in Andover on Sept. 17, 1960, to Owen E. Morton, of Andover, who survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Sandra Alice Wentzell and husband, Raymond, of Peru; three sons, Richard O. of Andover, Michael W. of Rumford Point, and Thomas S. And companion, Robert Kersey, of Destin, Fla.; daughter-in-law, Gloria Morton of Rumford Point; four sisters, Elaine Morton and husband, Hanson, of Andover, Roberta Pease and husband, Don, of Jay, Rosemary Taylor and husband, James, of Mexico, and Loretta Huston of Sanford; two brothers, Leroy Jodrey and wife, Lucy, of Canton, and Richard Jodrey and wife, Rhonda, of Andover; and five grandchildren, Travis and Tyler Morton of Rumford Point, Amanda Wentzell of Peru, Jennifer Wentzell of Ocala, Fla., and Michael Wentzell of Rumford.
