AUBURN HILLS, Mich. – Richard Hamilton scored 28 points and Ben Wallace added 15 points and 14 rebounds to help the Detroit Pistons improve to 21-3 with a 97-85 victory over the Golden State Warriors on Friday night.

Rasheed Wallace, whose cousin was killed in a shootout with Philadelphia police Thursday night, had 18 points for Detroit, which won its sixth in a row.

Reserve Maurice Evans had 13 points for Detroit, while Chauncey Billups scored 10.

Rookie Ike Diogu had a career-best 27 points for Golden State, making 13 of 15 field goals attempts. Baron Davis and Jason Richardson had 14 each.

Detroit led 50-42 at the half behind 14 points from Hamilton and 12 from Rasheed Wallace.

The Pistons quickly increased the margin to 63-47 early in the third, and led 80-63 at the end of the quarter.

Richardson’s 3-pointer pulled the Warriors within 83-70 with 8:34 left. Although the Pistons continued to make shots, Diogu hit three straight jumpers to keep Golden State in the game.

The Warriors finally put together a few stops, and Richardson’s layup made it 88-81 with 4:04 to go.

Detroit answered with a pair of spectacular alley-oop dunks, one by Ben Wallace and one by Tayshaun Prince to hold on for the win.

Notes: The Pistons were playing the second of a five-game homestand. They entered the night having played a league-low 10 home games. … Derek Fisher picked up a technical foul in the third quarter for arguing a call. Golden State was also called for two defensive three-second technicals. … Diogu made his first eight field-goal attempts. His previous career-best was 15 points on Nov. 26 against Toronto. … The Pistons are 7-0 against the Pacific Division.
