HEBRON – Lester Adams Sturtevant, Sr. 80, of Hebron, died Friday, Dec. 30, at his home.

He was born in Hebron on Jan. 30, 1925, the son of Frederick Capen and Alma Daisie Verrill Sturtevant, and attended Hebron schools.

He had been employed as a mechanic in the motor pool of the Massachusetts State National Guard in Quincy, Mass., retiring as a master sergeant. He later worked as a mess steward for the 109th Signal Battalion. He faithfully served his country in the U. S. Navy during World War II, serving on the USS Boston.

He was a member of the VFW in Revere, Mass., and the American Legion Post 150 in Mechanic Falls. He loved to tinker in his garage. He was an avid woodworker and welder. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He married Beatrice Caron on March 28, 1987.

He is survived by his wife of Hebron; a son, Lester Jr. of Peabody, Mass.; two daughters, Gayle Herring of Orrum, N.C., and Nadine Sturtevant of Attleboro, Mass.; a stepdaughter, Julie Ann Ryant of Mars, Pa.; several grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a brother, William Tudor Sturtevant of Gorham; a stepbrother, Ernest Sturtevant of Colorado; and several nieces and nephews.
