Rotary speaker

LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Rotary Club will meet at noon Thursday, Jan. 5, at the Ramada Inn to learn what’s happening in Lewiston. City Administrator Jim Bennett will be the speaker.

Anyone wishing to attend to hear Bennett or to learn more about Rotary is welcome. The buffet luncheons are $8 a person.

Birding trip

LEWISTON – The Stanton Bird Club is planning a field trip for Saturday Jan. 14, to Portland’s Back Cove and Two Lights State Park in Cape Elizabeth.

The group will car pool from the Lewiston Mall parking lot in front of Staples, leaving at 8 a.m. and returning around 4 p.m.

Registration

LISBON – The Lisbon School Department is requesting that parents of children who will be 5 by Oct. 15, register their children for kindergarten by Jan. 20.

Registration papers can be picked up at the Lisbon Community School office. Call Stephanie Doughty at 353-4132 for more information.

An official birth certificate, Social Security number, current immunization record and documentation of a recent (within one year) physical examination must be presented at registration.

Kindergarten screening will take place in the spring.

Sewing session

AUBURN – The Andy Valley Warped Threads Sewing Club will meet at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, at Craft Mania, Center Street. Snow date is Sunday Jan. 15. Several projects are in the works, so call 998-5703 or 783-4872 for details. Beginners are welcome. Andy Valley Warped Threads does not charge dues.
