SOUTH PARIS – Junior guard Terry Bunce scored a game-high 15 points to lead Oxford Hills to a 56-40 win over Brunswick in KVAC girls’ basketball action Friday.
The Vikings (6-2) jumped out to a 20-10 lead after the first quarter, but slipped to a meager three-point advantage after three. Sophomore forward Kyla Martin collected a game-leading nine free throws, while Oxford Hills notched 12-of-14 from the line in the final frame.
The Dragons (2-6) were paced by freshman forward Claire Baecher, who had seven field goals for 14 points, while senior guard Lindsay Hammond tallied 10 points in the losing effort.
Valley 56, Rangeley 40
RANGELEY – Kristen Baker scored 43 of the Valley Cavaliers’ 56 points, and they shut out the Rangeley Lakers in the fourth quarter in a 56-40 win in an East-West Conference girls’ basketball tilt Friday.
Baker hit 18 shots, including four from beyond the arc, to spark undefeated Valley (7-0).
Nicole Crupi dropped in 14 points for Rangeley, and Ashley Morton chipped in with nine points and 11 rebounds. Angela White scored eight points and grabbed seven boards for the Lakers (5-2).
Kents Hill 63, Hebron 17
HEBRON – Senior guard Jackie Gershman-Manocchi scored a game-high 21 points to lead Kents Hill to a 63-17 win over Hebron in girls’ basketball action Friday.
Senior guard Alessandra Rohde and junior forward Emelda Ogweta each contributed a respectable 13 points for the Huskies (3-0) in a balanced attack. Gershman-Manocchi also notched 10 steals as Kents Hill accumulated 28 during the contest.
Amy Shackford paced the Lumberjacks (0-2) with 10 points.
Gardiner 37, Lewiston 33
LEWISTON – Becky Dixon scored 10 points to lead Gardiner to a 37-33 win over Lewiston in a KVAC girls’ basketball game Friday night.
The Tigers controlled the boards throughout the game and held the Blue Devils (2-7) to just three points in the final quarter.
Katie Nadeau led Lewiston with 10 points. Mallory Long added five points and six rebounds.
Amanda Cray chipped in with nine points for Gardiner.
Mt. Ararat 54, EL 41
TOPSHAM – Jess Stahl tossed in 10 points to lead a balanced attack as Mt. Ararat downed Edward Little 54-41 in a KVAC girls’ basketball game Friday.
Five different Eagles scored eight or more points for the Eagles (4-5). Amelia Lamb chipped in with eight points and a game-high nine rebounds. Brittney French paced the Red Eddies (2-6) with a game-high 25 points.
Livermore Falls 57, Madison 44
LIVERMORE FALLS – Margorie DeBroskie scored 18 points as Livermore Falls defeated Madison 57-44 in a girls’ basketball game Friday night.
Taryn Flagg chipped in with 16 points for the Andies (5-2). Lacy Ashbrook and Margo Russell each led the Bulldogs (7-1) with 12 points.
Mt. Abram 56, Carrabec 32
NORTH ANSON – Emily Stinchfield dropped in 21 points and the Roadrunners outscored the Cobras 35-12 in the second half to break open a close game, as Mt. Abram ran away from Carrabec, 56-32, in an MVC tilt Friday.
Brittany York added 10 points for Mt. Abram (6-2).
Tiffany Gurney led Carrabec (2-6) with 10 points to go with six rebounds and five steals. Alicia Tingley added six points and nine rebounds.
Sacopee Valley 50, Buckfield 43
BUCKFIELD – Michelle Libby led all scorers with 13 points as Sacopee Valley held on in extra time for a 50-43 victory over Buckfield in girls’ basketball Friday.
Kayli Whitney added 12 points for the Hawks (4-2), who watched the Bucks chip away at an early lead throughout the second half. Lindsey Henderson hit a foul shot for Buckfield (2-4) in the final seconds to force overtime. Alyssa Henderson netted 11 points for the Bucks, and Desiree Brackett added nine points.
Waterville 62, Oak Hill 24
WATERVILLE – Sarah Given had 14 points, including three buckets from behind the three-point line, to lead Waterville to a 62-24 victory over Oak Hill in KVAC action Friday.
Elizabeth Bell and Denaye Plaisted each netted 10 points for the Panthers.
Emily Sabine had eight points to go with three steals for the Raiders (1-7), and Kristen Eaton hit four free throws and had eight rebounds.
