ANDOVER – Nomination papers are now available at the Andover Town Office for seven elected positions.
Town Clerk Elaine Morton said papers signed by a minimum of 25 registered voters, but not more than 75, must be returned to the town office by 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 2.
The annual town meeting takes place at 9 a.m. on March 18. Voting for officials is by secret ballot on Tuesday, March 21.
All seats are for three-year terms.
Positions up for election include the selectman’s seat currently held by six-year veteran, Trudy Akers, who is the board’s chairwoman. Akers and her husband, Leon, own and operate Akers Ski, Inc. So far, local contractor Jeff Rainey has taken out papers for the position.
Longtime Road Commissioner Marshall Meisner and veteran fire Chief Ken Dixon are each seeking additional terms. Morton, who was elected to the position of town clerk and tax collector in 2000, is seeking a third term.
SAD 44 board representative Sydney Pew, owner of King Kong Services Inc., of Andover, will seek a second three-year term, as will Sandra Conrad, as treasurer. She also serves as deputy town clerk.
Also up for election is the Planning Board seat held by Gerard Michaud, an employee of MCI World Com.
Potential candidates may pick up nomination papers at the town office on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., or on Wednesdays from 1 to 6 p.m.
