STANDISH – Gerald A. Spencer, (Jerry), 68 of Standish, passed away on Jan. 9, with his loving family by his side, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Jerry attended Auburn schools and graduated from Edward Little High School in 1955. After graduation he began his career working for Central Maine Power from 1957 and retired in 1995. He and his wife, Margaret, moved to Standish, where they shared many happy memories with their children, grandchildren and friends by the lake.

He served on many committees for several years with the Standish Town Council. He was a member of the Auburn Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge of Auburn and the Kora Shrine of Lewiston.

He was a very special man in many of the lives that he touched and will always be remembered for his caring and love that he gave to his family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret, of Standish; son, Stephen and his wife, Angie Spencer, of Poland Spring; daughter, Beth Spencer Woodhead, of Auburn; his grandchildren that he adored, Nathan Spencer, Emily Spencer, Colin Woodhead and Carl Woodhead; one aunt, Maxine Jordan, of Auburn; as well as several cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents, Pauline A. and Carl Spencer; and several aunts, uncles and a cousin.
