FARMINGTON – Barbara H. Riddle, 87, formerly of Rangeley, died Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 10, at the Sandy River Center for Rehabilitation, where she had been a resident since Dec. 1, 2004.

She was born in Rangeley, Dec. 5, 1918, a daughter of Ray A. and Florence (Barker) Harnden and received her education in Rangeley schools. She later attended Leslie College in Massachusetts.

Mrs. Riddle was a homemaker and also worked in the tax assessor’s office in Rangeley for several years.

She was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd, the Bridge Club, the Order of the Eastern Star and the Rangeley Ski Club. Mrs. Riddle was an avid skier and she enjoyed reading and knitting.

She is survived by a son, David H. Riddle and his wife, Katherine, of Belgrade and their two sons, Dwight, of Alabama and David O., of Virginia; one daughter, Nancy Roux and her husband, Charles P., of Yarmouth and their children, Charles C., of Auburn, Danielle Pare and her husband, Raymond, of North Yarmouth and Christian, of Portland; one brother, Frederick Harnden and his wife, Annette, of Rangeley; a sister, Dorothy Richardson, of New Hampshire; and two great-grandchildren.
