EAST DIXFIELD – Carolyn M. Coolidge, 87, of East Dixfield died peacefully at her home.

She was born Aug. 22, 1918, in Dixfield, the daughter of Grover and Susie Weld Merrill, and she received her education in Dixfield schools.

In 1936, she married John A. Coolidge. He died in 1985.

Mrs. Coolidge was employed for many years at Norwock Shoe and later retired from GH Bass in Wilton. She was a 50-year member of the Mystic Valley Grange and enjoyed snowmobiling in her younger years.

She enjoyed spending time with her large extended family and had many fond memories of her camp in Weld where she enjoyed the lake and the surrounding scenery.

Mrs. Coolidge will be remembered for her knitting and playing beano and cribbage.

She is survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her brothers, Cecil, Burchard, Vinton, and Paul; and a very special 20-year friend, Stanley Ellingwood.
