RUMFORD – A Rumford man was arrested on harassment charges Friday afternoon after a combined Rumford and New Jersey police investigation, acting Sgt. Douglas Maifeld said Saturday afternoon.

Brandon L. Dupill, 42, was charged with violating a protection from abuse order and summonsed for phone harassment at about 3:05 p.m.

He was then taken to the Oxford County Jail in Paris after failing to post $2,000 cash bail, and remained there as of Saturday night.

Maifeld said that on Monday, Rumford police received a call from the victim, Dupill’s ex-girlfriend, who is living in New Jersey. She alleged that Dupill had been repeatedly harassing her by phone.

The victim says Dupill had been stalking her for some time, Maifeld said, but last year she said that “The threats escalated violently, with him making threats to kidnap her children and harm her husband.”

The woman has moved several times to stay away from Dupill, he added.

“Since Christmas, she said she had 12 harassing calls from him,” Maifeld said.

Detective Lt. George Cayer began investigating the matter on Monday, contacting New Jersey police, then arrested Dupill four days later.
