AUBURN – Margaret E. Severy, 82, a resident of Brownell Road, Wales, died with family by her side on Sunday, Jan. 15, at Clover Manor Living Center, where she had been a patient for three and a half months.

She was born Nov. 13, 1923, in Litchfield, the daughter of Winfield Scott and Catherine M. (Benson) Bubier. She attended Litchfield schools, graduating from Litchfield Academy in 1942.

On June 26, 1942, she married Donald O. Severy of Wales. He passed away Jan. 13, 1980. She devoted her life to her husband and family. They moved to Wiscasset in 1970, where she worked for the school department until she returned to Wales in the early 80s.

In her early years she worked on their small market garden and egg route with her husband, Donald. When time allowed she went square dancing and was part of a bowling league. She loved to sew, enjoyed house plants and her many cats.

Her children believe she made the best chocolate cake, peach skillet pie and chicken vegetable pie in Wales. She was an active member in the Wales Presbyterian Church for many years and a member of the Wales Grange.

She served as secretary for the East Wales Cemetery Association for several years and also served on the Wales School Board in the 1950s. She leaves her family with many happy memories of family get togethers, stories of the past and the special love she always showed them.

She is survived by her four daughters and their husbands, Donna and Lyndon Spaulding, of Wales, Carol and Peter Quinn, of Poland, Marion and Jaime Guyette of Mechanic Falls, Paula and Floyd Thayer of Oxford; four sons, Raymond and his wife, Terri, of Bath, Mich., Kenneth, of Durham, Richard, of Wales, Brian and his wife, Debra, of Wales; 26 grandchildren; and 38 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her sister, Marion Small in 1983.
