NEW JERSEY – James H. Kendall, Esq., passed away on Jan. 13, in New Jersey.

He was born in Worcester, Mass., to F. Paton and Mildred Kendall of Holden, Mass. in 1923. He served in World War II as a naval pilot and landing signal officer. His brother, Caleb Kendall, also a naval pilot, was killed in World War I.

He graduated from Harvard and BU Law School, where he was editor-in-chief of the law review and won the highest faculty award given to outstanding student.

He practiced law for many years in Rumford in the firm of Whiting and Kendall. He also served as Oxford County attorney. He was associated with the firm of Isaacson and Raymond of Lewiston at the time of his retirement in 1994.

He was married to Barbara Holman Kendall of Dixfield, who currently resides in Brunswick.

He is survived by two daughters, Rebecca Calden of Brunswick and Deborah Gast of Holland; one nephew, Tim Kendall of Salem, Mass.; and five grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his son, James H. Kendall.
