LEWISTON – Robert V. Lemieux, 83, formerly of 6 Second St. Extension, died Thursday morning, Jan. 19, at St. Marguerite d’Youville Pavilion, after a long illness.

Born in Lewiston, on Aug. 2, 1922, the son of Joseph and Florida (Duchesneau) Lemieux, he was educated in Lewiston schools.

He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, serving in the Asiatic and Pacific Theater. He also served on active duty in the Philippines, where he received the Good Conduct Medal and three battle stars.

He worked for many years in the local shoe industry, retiring from Gould and Scammon. He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus Council 106, the VFW in Lisbon, the former American Legion Post 22 and the Montagnard Snowshoe Club. He had a very wide range of interests especially genealogy, history, collecting historical event items, politics and travel.

Survivors include one brother, Roger W. Lemieux and his wife, Madeleine, of Lisbon; and three nephews, Roger Jr., Robert and Roland Lemieux.

He was predeceased by his parents; and sister, Laurette.
