NEW GLOUCESTER – The town’s first full-time planner has resigned, effective Feb. 8.

James H. Isaacson has accepted a position as a senior planner for Cattaraugus County in western New York State.

He became New Gloucester’s planner almost five years ago. Among his accomplishments, he said, was the adoption by voters of a Transfer of Development Rights Ordinance.

The program aims to preserve rural land and concentrate growth in specific areas that can handle the additional growth.

Isaacson and his wife, Janette, and their 15-month-old daughter, Jacquelynn, will be closer to family.
