Mr. Rick Myers is the teacher for Lewiston Middle School Chess Club. He teaches about 20 boys and girls in the Chess Club. The Chess Club meets in room 305 and they are always looking for new members to join. Chess gives kids a chance to play a game that is not physical. It is more of a thinking game. The past tournament was an in-house tournament which means only the ones in the Chess Club could play. This year’s winner was Patrick Caldwell.

After all tournaments, the Chess Club has a pizza party. The future tournament is going to be LMS vs. Sabattus Middle School. The Chess Club also plays other games when they have played a lot of chess. The games include Jeopardy, Japanese chess, which is chess with a bigger board and more pieces. They also do trivia now and then.

There will be a tournament at the high school in January for kids in grades kindergarten through twelfth.
