During Hurrahs and Blahs the Bengal team at Tripp Middle School, and only the Bengal team sits in the gymnasium and identifies the growth and/or success of students, like clean across the board, which means having no red stamps, or for perfect attendance. A red stamp is a stamp that a student will get when he/she doesn’t do their work. Also, all the teachers from the team pick one student from any one of their classes that improved or did well on their work. That student will get a certificate, and a candy as a thank you or congratulations. In other words “Student of the Month!” As well as: if you get student of the month, or are “clean across the board” your name goes into a drawing for free movie tickets.

We, the Bengal team, then do “Hurrahs and Blahs.” This is a particular event where two students from every advisor room gets to stand in front of the whole team and present the good things about the school and the things that need some work. Some of these things the team is unable to fix, or improve. Some examples are; no gum chewing, or nothing but water outside the cafeteria. Some examples of the good things are: that there is a field trip coming up, or a team dance on February 10.

This event is a time that gives Bengal students a say/voice on their thoughts or opinions about what the school could work on and/or what it needs.
