LEWISTON – Sylvia Plourde, a past president of the Lewiston-Auburn Rotary Club, addressed her colleagues in the Auburn-Lewiston Rotary Breakfast Club about her experience as a team leader for a group study exchange in France last year.
The Rotary International program provides a cultural and vocational exchange opportunity for young business and professional men and women in the early years of their professional lives.
Plourde’s group had five members from Quebec and eastern Maine. Participants met with practitioners of their profession in France and had an opportunity to learn about the culture and share information about the United States and Canada.
The France-to-North America part of the exchange will occur in May when a team from Europe visits Quebec and Maine for several weeks.
The Auburn-Lewiston Rotary Breakfast Club will celebrate its 15th anniversary on Saturday, Feb. 4. The club provides more than $20,000 a year in grants to local and international charities through fund-raisers such as the Trip-of-the-Month raffle, golf tournament and Great Duck Race.
