LUNENBURG, Mass. (AP) – Grief counselors were made available Sunday in Lunenburg after a 7-year-old boy was killed by his neighbor’s dog.
Connor Lourens was playing in a neighbor’s yard on Saturday afternoon when the neighbor’s dog, an English mastiff, attacked him. The first-grader was pronounced dead at UMass Medical Center in Worcester at 2:15 p.m., a hospital spokeswoman said.
Worcester District Attorney John J. Conte’s office is investigating. A call to his office on Sunday was not immediately returned.
Police would not comment on Sunday and have not released details about the attack.
The dog was euthanized on Saturday. The name of the dog’s owner was not released.
Town and school officials arranged for grief counselors to be available at the Lunenburg Primary School on Sunday.
