LEWISTON – Robert E. Frederickson, 74, a resident of Lewiston, died Saturday, Feb. 4, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Lewiston, where he had been a patient since last Wednesday.

He was born June 25, 1931, in Bath, the son of Bernice Harnish and Gus Frederickson. He graduated from Boothbay High School and joined the U.S. Navy right after graduation.

Robert married Margaret Lawler in 1960 in Ogden, Utah. He retired from the Navy after 23 years as senior chief. They moved to Monmouth in 1969, and bought a farm where he grew Christmas trees.

He also worked for Boston Coal Co. in Gardiner.

He graduated from University of Maine Augusta in 1979 with a Bachelor of Science in business administration.

Robert was a member of the Monmouth Masonic Lodge, where he served as master of the lodge several times, and the National Rifle Association, and was executive secretary of the Maine Christmas Tree Association for many years.

He loved the outdoors, loved fishing and hunting, was an avid fly fisherman and tied his own flies.

He leaves his wife of 45 years, Margaret, of Lewiston; a daughter, Laura Verrill and her husband, Ray, of Auburn; two sons, Joseph and his wife, Diane, of Gardiner; and James and his fiance, Adrienne Perreault, of Biddeford; grandchildren, J’amie, Nathan and Jason Verrill, Jennifer Ashley Carter and Samantha Frederickson; two step-granddaughters, Misty and Amber Michaud; three step-great-grandchildren, Brandon, Griffin and Lillian Matos; a brother, Charles White of New Mexico; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; and a sister, Martha Koldewyn.
